What is the Celtic Prayer Retreat?
The Celtic Prayer Retreat is an annual event hosted by Tom and Christine Sine on their property on Camano Island (about an hour north of Seattle).
Participants gather on 40 acres of undeveloped land to enjoy the beautiful August blue sky, the smell of ripe blackberries and the silence of the woods. Many choose to camp here for the weekend. With these people we say morning and evening prayer based ancient Celtic Christian tradition.
The Saturday itself is a full day with a potluck lunch and also finishing with a BBQ potluck in the evening. The morning begins at 10 am with a time of singing and liturgical worship followed by meditation on scriptures that relate to the theme we choose – yet to be determined. We set up a prayer walk on the land that also relates to the theme and in the afternoon people have a couple of hours to walk, meditate on their own, write prayers, poetry etc. 2006 may be the year we add a labyrinth. We finish the programme with a Eucharistic service – based again on Celtic prayers & liturgies.
After the service participants join in a picnic potluck, visiting, and learning a bit more about the Celtic Prayer Retreat Center.
We're already planning for the prayer retreat of 2006. If you're interested in the retreat, check out the 2006 Retreat link to the right or send us an email and we'll make sure to let you know when we have more details.
